I'm Jay Thompson the British Youth Champion, Commonwealth Youth Parallel Bars and Junior European Pommel Horse Champion. I am also a member of the British Gymnastics Top 2016 squad. I share my place with 9 other gymnasts from across Great Britain, we train together preparing to compete for Great Britain in the Rio Olympic Games. I started Gymnastics when I was six years old and joined My current club (Exeter Olympic Gymnastics club) in 2003.
2012 has been the best and hardest year yet! Double gold (Team and Pommel) was an unbelievable and fantastic feeling. I am so proud to be part of that team!
Busy year! You can see more on my results and press pages.
I have also Recieved Recognition in Local Sports award Winning the Torbay Junior and Overall Sports Personality, and recently the Exeter Express and Echo Young Sports Personality Awards.
My success last year is thanks to many people, My Club, Coaches and British Gymnastics for all of the gymnastic and medical support. But there is more support from many other sources such as those on my sponsors page as well as my family.Thank you for all your support so far and please dont stop!
The last two years has been important for me as training continues to increase to help me achieve my goal of representing England and Great Britain initially as a junior and eventually at the Olympic Games. I hope that my first Olymics will be Rio De Jeniero in 2016. You can be sure I will be working my hardest to be there.
